WHAT'S NEW
Our get-together at Daventry Court Hotel on 18th May was a busy day, but well-attended with plenty of things going on.
Fundraising news. A boy of 13 hopes to ride into the record books by becoming the youngest person to complete a cycle ride from London to Paris. Samuel Smith, whose younger brother Sebastian has RTS, will be undertaking the challenge during the May half-term and raising funds for the RTS Support Group as he goes. Over £2000 has been raised so far, so thank you and good luck Samuel - we'll all be rooting for you! Sebastian's Just Giving page
We have been very fortunate to have had a number of other people also raising funds for the group recently and we'd like to say a huge "Thank you" to them all: we do appreciate the hard physical work they've all put in. Still to come: Mark Wilkinson will be running the Torbay Marathon in June and has already raised over £1000. There's still time to donate to your favourite with Just Giving. Donating in this way allows the charity to receive all the money as it is donated and it doesn't have to wait, for example, until the event is over.
You might be interested to know that there is a book about a lady in New Zealand who has RTS. "Loving Leanne" is an account of one family and their ups and downs in caring for a person with a learning disability. Written principally by Leanne's sister, Debbie Roome, the book is available from Amazon in both hard copy and e-book format. Did you know that by using the easyfundraising website and the easysearch search engine , you can raise funds for us, at no extra cost to yourself, when you shop on-line or make a search ?
